We have distributed a booklet on behalf of Glasgow City Council which gave local residents information regarding road closures and parking restrictions for the Men’s 10K on 21st June. This leaflet forms part of the initiatives that the event organisers and the local authority are taking to minimise disruption to the local residents and businesses.
The brochure shows the route, which starts at the Riverside Museum and finished at Glasgow Green. Hundreds of runners will take part in this event, many raising money for local and national charities. The leaflet encourages people to support the runners as they complete the race.
We distributed the booklet to both businesses and residential properties in areas along the route in the Glasgow city centre.
The biggest challenge in this distribution was the need to distribute to businesses in Glasgow City Centre. Distributing to businesses tends to be more difficult than distributing to residential areas but the city centre adds a whole new level of difficulty. The main reason for this is that many businesses are in office blocks which have controlled access. In addition may shops are in shopping centres where we have to get permission to distribute the leaflets to businesses in the centres.
The fact that this was an information brochure helped us to gain access but it still took much longer than normal to gain access and in some cases, access was refused.
These are issues that people should take into account when considering distributing leaflets to businesses, especially in the city centre area.
Another important aspect of this type of distribution is ensuring that the distributers are always polite and understanding when trying to gain access to controlled-entry office blocks and shopping centres. Our distributers understand this and take care to teat the people that they are talking to with respect, even when some people are less than helpful. They understand that they are representing our client and always act accordingly.
The distribution was completed successfully and we are please to have played a small part in ensuring that the event runs smoothly.
