We recently completed distributing leaflets promoting the Open Day’s at Hutchesons’ Grammar School. We ran a demographic analysis based on the post codes of their customers and used the results to identify the best areas in which to distribute their leaflets in the South Side of Glasgow various areas of South Lanarkshire, as well as Troon in South Ayrshire.
The leaflets, which were printed on good quality 250gsm stock, where a real challenge. The reason for this was due to the extensive use of one solid colour, in this case black which caused quality issues that we had to go to great lengths to resolve. Some may ask “why bother – it’s only a leaflet?”. Our answer to that question is that if you focus on the small details, the big details will take care of themselves. We pride ourselves on working to the highest standards and that includes the quality of the print that we produce. If it is not up to our standards, we will not accept it and we adopt the same philosophy throughout 2112 Direct Marketing, including leaflet design and leaflet distribution.
When designing a leaflet, our advice would be to avoid the use of a great deal of solid colour, especially if that colour is dark as it will almost certainly cause problems when it comes to printing it.
The design of this particular leaflet was done by the client and was particularly unique, using an eye-catching photograph which represented the many activities that take place at the school from academic to sports, art, music and drama. This unusual design was complimented by the “We Are Hutchie” headline which is draws attention because of its informal wording which gives what is one of the more prominent private schools in Glasgow a more approachable and friendly image.
This was the first leaflet distribution job that we have done for this client and we are very proud to have added such a prestigious name in the Glasgow academic community to our growing list of prominent clients.
