We completed the delivery of the “Spirit of Calton News” in the Calton area of Glasgow – in the East side, close to the City Centre. This newsletter was distributed on behalf of Foundation Scotland, an independent charity that provide a source of funding to community led projects throughout Scotland.
The Spirit of Calton is the local name for the ‘Fourteen programme’ in the Calton. This is part of Glasgow’s 2014 Commonwealth Games legacy programme where 14 communities across the UK will each receive funding over a three year period (from January 2015) to invest in activity that local people themselves believe will make a difference to well-being and happiness within their community.
The 12-page newsletter was distributed to residences in the local area. From a distribution point of view, this was relatively straightforward as our client provided a map of the area into which the newsletters were to be distributed. The main issue that we has was the size of the newsletter which made it relatively heavy and, therefore, more difficult to manage than a ‘normal’ leaflet distribution as our distributers were not able to carry very may at a time. In addition, the area was all flats and traditional tenement buildings which can make gaining access more difficult.
To cope with this we used extra distributers and started early in the morning to ensure that we were able to deliver all of the newsletters and minimise non-deliveries. This worked well and the newsletters were delivered on time with very few non-deliveries reported.
Ian Brown, the MD of 2112 Direct Marketing said “We are always pleased to be asked to distribute materials for community groups and charities and were, therefore, more than happy to undertake this distribution for Foundation Scotland. We look forward to working with them in the future”.
